I have a lot of experience with Stumbleupon and Digg.
Its easy to overestimate the amount of traffic you can get from Stumbleupon. Certainly, if you have videos, something "remarkable", and/or something funny--stumblers may bite. If you want to kick start a campaign, Stumble does offer pay-per-click at a nickle a click.
Digg has a rather atheistic bent. It also functions like a bit of a pyramid scheme, with the top 10-100 diggers controlling what hits the frontpage. If you read much about Digg traffic you will find that its a quick spike, without a lot of long term returns.
Digg and stumbleupon are largely fun toys as well as interesting ways to interact with information.
There is a Christian version of Digg called Godblogs that I haven't really investigated, but offer an interesting way to generate traffic.
Great tip on the link!
