A Week in the Life: Sherri Jones

A Week in the Life: Sherri Jones

August 23, 2016 by

We’ve been connecting with church communicators each week this summer with our ‘A Week in the Life’ series.

Today we hear from Sherri Jones. She’s the marketing director at Impact Church in South Plainfield, N.J.

Our motto here is, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

What’s on your plate this week?

This week, we’re wrapping up an Impact Drive for a local school where we’ve collected hundreds of back-to-school supplies for incoming students. We let our members know there was a need in the community, and they wasted no time responding! So with the wrap-up comes making sure I capture the story (through interviews, pictures, video, etc.) so everyone can see the real life impact they’re having in the lives of others.

Then there’s a benefit concert we’re hosting in October for our Lead Pastor De’Andre Salter’s 10th anniversary appreciation which is very exciting! Proceeds from the concert are going towards The Salter Foundation in support of developing summer programs and other educational initiatives to help inner city children thrive in cutting-edge education, and give them a chance to pursue higher education. And now that we’re done with preliminaries, such as booking the music artists and venue, the real marketing fun begins!

Oh… and we’re also in the middle of a major rebranding project and in the process of launching an online campus, so I have some website review calls and drip campaigns to work on.

What are you most excited about right now?

Our upcoming benefit concert in October and finally unveiling our new website, mobile app and more surprising things to our members! It’s about to be a very exciting few months at Impact.

What’s holding you back this week and how will you overcome it?

The pressure that comes with wrapping up the end of the year activities on the church calendar can be a bit overwhelming, but it’s nothing that a to-do list and a good cup of coffee can’t handle. I’m surrounded by very supportive staff and team members and that makes everything manageable. Our motto here is, “Teamwork makes the dream work,” and I have full confidence in my team. So with them and God by my side, I can overcome anything!

What does your work space look like right now?

My favorite place to work on our campus is “The Dream Room.” With plenty of windows for the natural light to shine through, I feel the most productive. As you can see, there’s a lot happening here.
