I went over to amazon and saw a few of the sample pages. This looks like a great book to be picking up soon…

Anyways, It’s true! Us creative types do steal from what’s around us. It’s not only from art, but it could be a book we read, someone’s personality, or a strange rusty pattern on a wall that inspires our art. I once went to a talk on the Nike campus in Beaverton where one of the shoe designers named Aaron encouraged all of us young artists in the crowd to be “Sponges” and try to soak up anything that inspires us. I have kept that concept for all of these years and in fact have shoe boxes full of “Inspiration.”

I can’t recommend Steal Like an Artist highly enough. Fantastic read. Very inspiring and challenging as an artist.
