Free Webinar Brings Social Media Strategy to Pastors and Ministry Leaders

Free Webinar Brings Social Media Strategy to Pastors and Ministry Leaders

March 22, 2011 by

“We know social media is important, but we have no idea where to start!”

I hear this quite often. When I get the chance to talk with other church leaders around the country, most people know that social media is significant. They know that they need to be in the space. They, quite literally, have no idea where to get started. I spoke to a woman after an event in the Twin Cities who was nearly in tears. She had just been tasked by the seminary president to “get us on Facebook” with no instruction or direction.

These things ought not to be!

That’s why I’m excited to announce a free webinar I’ll be hosting this Friday in partnership with Monk Development. If you’re needing a social media primer, wanting to brush up on the basics or are simply curious, I would love for you to join us. Here’s the description:

Social Media for Pastors and Ministry Leaders: Where Do I Start? Just what is “social media” anyway? Why has it taken the online world by storm? In this webinar you’ll learn why the social web is absolutely crucial to communicating with the next generation. You’ll learn how the up-and-coming generation communicates and why you need to be in those channels, contributing your story to the social media flow. We’ll focus on the “why” and the “how” of social media. If you’re confused by terms like “tweet”, “like” and “blogging”, this webinar is a great place to start in getting a social media education! Join blogger and social strategist Justin Wise to uncover the basic principles of social media and why you need to be integrating it into your ministry work flow.

Please get yourself registered soon, as space is limited.

What questions do you have about social media and ministry?

I need help and thought of you guys! There is a website out there that showcases all the previous weekend’s services/videos/sermons at various churches across the country. I thought it was something like “pizgah.com” or something like that. Do you know what that website is? I’d love to track it down.

One that I’m aware of is truthcasting.com. But that may not be what you were looking for. Good luck!

Maybe you mean http://www.lightsource.com? Two of my home state’s biggest churches put their sermons there – TD Jakes of the Potter’s House in Dallas and Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston.

Several of our faculty are very interested in this webinar, but cannot attend due to a conflicting event at our seminary. Will the webinar content be archived somewhere that can be accessed after the event?

Hey Colleen … We are making the webinar available exclusively to the people who attend. Email me at justin(at)cfcclabs.org and I’ll make sure you get a copy, though.

This site lists sermons by date:

    Is that what you need?

In reply: no that isn’t the one I was thinking of. It is a site that includes the nation’s megachurch’s, what videos they used, their messages, etc. It’s killing me that I can’t remember the name of that site. It is such a helpful tool. Holla back if you recall! Thnak you!

I can not attend due to a schedule conflict. Can I access an archived link next week? We use Facebook but need to do so more effectively.
