Web Standards Junkies Rejoice

November 29, 2005 by

If you dream of a world where every web site uses CSS and tables are relegated to the Smithsonian, then Godbit.com is for you. If you’re scratching your head, it’s all about web standards.

Godbit is a site dedicated to helping the church learn how to use and make the most of web standards. It may seem like techno-speak to some of us, but using proper web standards can mean the difference between hand-coding a few hundred pages to change the font and making the change in one single motion with CSS. That can translate to big money savings, and that’s only part of the reason why you should care.

I really hope this site takes off. I stumbled upon the site last week and found the small but very capable community at the discussion boards to be very friendly and helpful.

Kevin: Thanks, I appreciate the link, sorry if I email spammed you too much about it. :)
Eric: Thanks, we’re starting off small of course (as everything starts), but hope to gradually grow and be able to help more people (and learn a little ourselves in the process).
To be honest, I was afraid it would flop, but I’m trying to take heart in the words of Zechariah 4:10 and not “despise the day of small beginnings.”

Godbit rocks! This is exactly the kind of resource that is desperately needed amongst church web developers.
I’ve been loving on it a few days already. :)

Web Standards might be a rather boring subject to talk or read about, but it’s extremely important for us to understand about them if we are going to be developing web sites.  Godbit is a Christian run web-site that has the following purpose and visi

I stumbled upon this page about a week ago. I absolutely love it! This is EXACTLY what people in the church need to see. Great content, great information, and seemingly great guys working behind the project!
Keep up the great work guys! Youve got my attention (and subscription to RSS – hehe).
    Peace,
    Nate

Steve: I used to like tables too. I imagine that it’s sort of like giving up smoking. It’s for your own good. ;)
