The Church of SpongeBob

July 26, 2004 by

SpongeBob Squarepants, a cartoon sponge who lives under the sea, has his own church. More than 700 SpongeBob fans gather for services in New York, California and Texas. The church promotes “simple things like having fun and using your imagination.”

Jesus has been replaced by a sponge with pants. That’s a sure sign of the apocalypse.

Spongebob Squarepants is my favorite cartoonfigure at Nickelodeon. I don’t blame those people for building a Church dedicated to him, but I wouldn’t go there myself..
Then again, the world needs a laugh!

who would build a church worsiping a talking sponge? its okay that people belive in having fun, but create a club, worsiping songebob, is like worshiping your kicthen sponge because you made a movie or video of it and it appears to be having fun…

Okay. I watch spongebob everyday, cause it’s on all day and it’s amuzing. But, to have a freaking church dedicated to him is absolutly rediculous. I’m a very open Christian and I love me some Jesus! Let’s see, this church says that it’s about enjoying simple things and an open imagination, here’s a example of having to have an imagination when it comes to the Bible. Take all the wars, miracles, and things that wouldn’t normaly happen in daily life, you have to IMAGINE those things to think about what it would be like, see my point here? The Bible is the most hardcore TRUTH that i’ve ever read. I love God and speading the Word, it frustrates me knowing that people worship a cartoon…
